She Got Up Off The Chair

It wasn’t too long ago that she was very, very small – so small that she could fit quite nicely under her sweet little chair.  She loved the peace and quiet down there and she loved that she was invisible – of at least that’s what she thought!  She was sort of happy, but most importantly she was safe – very, very safe.

But then one day she noticed that she was uncomfortable and that her heart really hurt!  Her little space had become too small!  Surprisingly she had started to grow and was getting stronger and stronger, and she longed to be up on top of the chair where the view was much nicer.  She had heard that there was more air and light, and space to breathe – and she knew it was a place she wanted to be.

So one day, with great effort, she made the climb and was so glad she did.  It was everything she imagined it to be!  She became healthy and strong and continued to grow – and even began to take risks!  One spring day she leaned way over the edge of the chair to say hello to a hummingbird and almost fell off, but she didn’t.  Adventure was becoming more important than safety and her heart didn’t hurt quite as much as it did before.

Not long after her move she was sitting and day dreaming about how far she had come and how much happier she was.  Right then a bird flew overhead and caught her attention.  As she looked up she noticed more birds and stars – and the moon and the sun – all held up by some sort of invisible magic!  Oh how she wanted to fly!  Her heart was filled with such longing that she knew she would not be completely happy until she tried.  So she stood up and climbed to the very tip top of the chair – and then stepped off!  The magic gently held and supported her!  Her heart was so full and joyous that she knew she would never ever return to her little chair – not even to rest – not even for a minute.

And that’s the end of the story.

Good Night
